Who Wins

  • Pre-6 you win the poke war cleanly — your Q and E outrange both Thresh and Aphelios and you can stack your passive on them without being in hook range if you respect Thresh's Q distance.
  • Post-6 your R is a channel that Thresh can interrupt with a hook or flay, so you must use it only when Thresh is CC'd or out of position, otherwise you are vulnerable during the cast.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best pattern is to Q poke from max range to force Thresh to use his shield passive, then E slow them when they try to walk up, creating a situation where Aphelios cannot safely auto-attack and Thresh cannot safely hook.
  • When Thresh commits to a hook attempt, immediately R him or Aphelios if Kai'Sa has already engaged — never R into a Thresh who has Q available.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You should roam post-6 when the wave is crashed and Kai'Sa can safely freeze — your R is a game-changing tool in mid-lane skirmishes and Thresh has no reliable way to follow your roam if you leave during a freeze.
  • Avoid roaming pre-6 because Aphelios can bully Kai'Sa off the wave without your poke presence.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not channel your R in an open position where Thresh can hook you mid-cast — this is the single biggest mistake you can make and it turns your kill ability into a free kill for the enemy.
  • Always cast R from behind minions or when Thresh is knocked up, rooted, or already engaged on Kai'Sa.
