Who Wins

  • Pre-6 you are not winning the 2v2 in a straight fight — Thresh hook into Aphelios Gravitum root is a kill combo and you have limited tools to disengage before level 6.
  • Post-6 your R gives you re-engage or escape on a hook attempt, and if Vel'Koz lands his full combo you can clean up, making the post-6 dynamic more even but still dangerous if Thresh hooks you.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best pattern is to let Vel'Koz poke them down with Q and E from range, then look to E in on a low-health target only after Thresh has used his Q — never E into a Thresh who has Q available because you will be hooked mid-dash.
  • Stack your passive safely from range using W and auto-attacks during Vel'Koz poke windows.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You want to freeze the wave near your side of the lane to force Thresh and Aphelios to overextend for CS, creating hook angles for Vel'Koz and punishing any misstep.
  • Avoid hard-pushing because a crashed wave gives Thresh free roam time and removes your freeze leverage.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use your E aggressively into Thresh unless his Q is on cooldown — dashing into a Thresh with Q up is one of the most punishable mistakes in the game and will result in a hook-chain kill.
  • Respect Thresh's hook timing and use E defensively or to close on already-CC'd targets.
