Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know about LaneDiff, from how matchups are analyzed to what happens behind the scenes.

What exactly does LaneDiff do?

LaneDiff is a League of Legends matchup analysis tool that gives you concise, role-specific tips you can actually read before your game starts, during the loading screen.

Instead of browsing endless matchup guides or watching long videos, LaneDiff instantly analyzes the champions on both sides of your lane and generates four short, focused sections of advice that adapt to your role (Top, Jungle, Mid, ADC, or Support).

Each set of tips is unique to your champion and situation.

  • A jungler might see insights about pathing, invade timings, scuttle control, or key mistakes to avoid.
  • A laner might get guidance on wave management, trading patterns, power spikes, or when to play aggressive or defensive.

Every analysis is built to answer a simple question:

“What should I know right now to play this matchup better?”

The result is a fast and readable summary that cuts out the fluff. It focuses only on what’s actionable so you can start each game with a clear plan for your early game, tempo, and lane strategy.

How are the tips generated?

The tips on LaneDiff are generated by AI, but not from a quick generic prompt.

Each analysis comes from a carefully crafted prompt that I’ve refined over dozens of iterations and tested on hundreds of matchups.

The AI writes the text, but the structure, logic, and tone come from many hours of prompt tuning.

Of course, AI isn’t perfect. That’s why every matchup page includes a feedback system: if something feels wrong, outdated, or incomplete, you can report it and suggest a correction.

The goal is simple: AI builds the foundation, and experienced players help refine it when needed, making the tool better for everyone.

Why is there a daily analysis limit?

Every new matchup generation uses a paid AI request, so to keep things sustainable I set a limit of 50 new matchups per day.

This doesn’t stop you from using the site. If a matchup has already been analyzed before, you can view it freely without spending the daily limit. The counter resets automatically every 24 hours.

If you’d like to support the project, donations help cover the AI costs and would allow me to increase the daily limit in the future.

Who is behind LaneDiff?

Hey, I’m Gaëtan, a solo developer and long-time League of Legends player (probably way too long, to be honest).

I don’t really play anymore, but after years on the Rift and with friends who still play regularly, I know how much players appreciate clear, useful information that helps them actually perform better in lane.

I’ve always loved building things from scratch, especially tools that make people’s lives a bit easier or more fun. LaneDiff is my first personal project released publicly, and I built everything myself: the code, the design, the ideas, and the system behind the tips.

It’s fully solo work. No company, no team, no budget. Just me trying to make something genuinely useful for the LoL community.

Right now I’m unemployed, and I’d love to make a living from the projects I create. If you enjoy LaneDiff or need help building your own product, feel free to reach out at .

You can also make a donation if you enjoy the tool and want to support me in doing what I love.

I found a bug or want to suggest a feature. How do I contact you?

That’s awesome, feedback really helps.
