Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose the lane if Lux lands Q before you can close distance — her root into Caitlyn headshot deals more damage than your W all-in at level 2 unless you land the engage first on a mistimed position.
- Post-6, your R into Xayah's feather recall is a genuine kill combo, but Lux's R range means she can interrupt your backline escape after the engage, so commit only when you have HP to survive the counter-burst.
Synergy & Trading
- Your best pattern is to use W to engage onto Caitlyn specifically (not Lux), charm her with E if she tries to reposition, and let Xayah recall feathers through both enemies — Caitlyn is the priority target because killing her removes the primary damage threat.
- Do not engage onto Lux first; her shield and the distance from Caitlyn's headshot means you'll take more damage than you deal.
Wave Control/Roaming
- You should not roam in this matchup — Caitlyn and Lux have enough wave pressure and poke to bully Xayah out of lane the moment you leave, and Xayah cannot 1v2 survive even a short roam window.
- If you do roam, it must be after a successful kill in lane where Xayah has enough HP and the wave is pushed to their tower.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use W to engage when Lux's Q is available and you are not certain you can dodge it — a rooted Rakan in the middle of the lane with no escape is a free kill for Caitlyn's headshot and Lux's E.
- Burning your W defensively to escape poke rather than saving it for an all-in engage is the mistake that makes this matchup unwinnable.
