Who Wins

Pre-6, you win the level 2 spike if you hit E+Q on Leona before she engages, but Leona also spikes hard at level 2 and will look to trade simultaneously — the side that lands CC first wins.
Post-6, Kalista + Leona's R combination is a faster, more decisive kill threat than your R, so you are not the dominant post-6 duo and must play around preventing their engage rather than forcing your own.

Your best pattern is to W-stun Leona when she steps up to engage, then Q her to chunk her down and force her back before she can lock down Aphelios.
If Leona is stunned and Kalista is isolated, Aphelios can follow up safely — but if you use W on Kalista instead of Leona, Leona will freely chain her CC onto Aphelios and the trade goes heavily against you.

You should roam post-6 when the wave is pushed into the enemy tower and Leona has just used her R or is recalled, as your R has strong gank potential for mid lane.
Do not roam if Kalista has a frozen wave near your tower, because Aphelios cannot handle the 1v2 pressure and will be dove or zoned off farm entirely.

Do not use your E shield reactively after Leona has already landed her E+Q combo — by then the damage is done and Aphelios is already in danger.
You must proactively position your E to intercept Leona's engage path, not respond to it after the fact.
