Who Wins
- Pre-6, Smolder outranges your Minigun auto-attacks and his Q stacks safely while you struggle to trade back without overextending; Blitzcrank's hook threat forces you to play far back, making level 1-3 heavily in Smolder's favor.
- Post-6, your R gives you kill threat across the map and your damage output scales faster than Smolder's early stacks, but you need Thresh to create the engage window since you have no self-peel.
Synergy & Trading
- Let Thresh land his E or Q first to root or displace Blitzcrank, then immediately switch to Fishbones to AoE both enemies and force them to take poke while retreating; never initiate trades yourself since you have no mobility and Blitzcrank will punish any forward step with a hook into a death combo.
Wave Control/Roaming
- Push the wave consistently with Fishbones to deny Smolder his Q stacking on minions and force him to use abilities on the wave rather than on you; a shoved wave also reduces the time you spend in Blitzcrank's hook range near the center of the lane.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never walk up to last-hit with Minigun when Blitzcrank's Q is available — you have no dash and a single hook into Blitzcrank R silence followed by Smolder damage will kill you at most HP thresholds in this lane.
