Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win the poke war with Q spam as long as you respect Nautilus's Q range and never let him close the gap — level 2 is dangerous if Nautilus hits Q into E+W, so play behind minions and use your E preemptively if he steps forward.
  • Post-6, Nautilus R removes your ability to E away reactively since it is an airborne knockup, making the 2v2 significantly more dangerous and requiring you to play further back.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your trading pattern is Q harassment at max range to chip down both enemies, and E away immediately if Nautilus advances — never stand still to trade autos because Miss Fortune's passive and E will outdamage you in short trades.
  • Use your E offensively only when Nautilus is clearly out of position or his Q is on cooldown, otherwise save it strictly as an escape tool.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • Push the wave with Q to maintain priority and avoid being dove under tower by Nautilus R, since tower does not protect you from his full CC chain.
  • When ahead, freeze near your tower to bait Nautilus into overextending for a hook, then punish with Swain's E+R combo on the isolated Nautilus.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use E aggressively to reposition for a better Q angle — this is the single biggest mistake against Nautilus because it leaves you with no escape when he Q-engages.
  • Treat E as a strictly defensive tool in this matchup until Nautilus's Q is confirmed on cooldown.
