Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you lose this 2v2 — Nautilus hook into Hwei CC is a kill combo and you have no dash to escape before R, so any time Nautilus lands hook on you it is likely a death.
  • Post-6, your R significantly shifts the dynamic because your E becomes a dash for repositioning and your sustained damage during R can out-trade both enemies in a prolonged fight, but you still need Leona to absorb the initial CC chain for you to survive long enough to deal damage.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best trading pattern is to let Leona engage first to absorb Nautilus's hook, then activate R and walk into the fight with your Q active and W laser to deal sustained damage while Leona tanks — your splash damage will hit both enemies and your E dash lets you reposition if Hwei tries to burst you.
  • Never walk up to trade without Leona initiating first, because Nautilus will hook you the moment you are in range and you cannot escape pre-6.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • Play the wave defensively pre-6 and focus on last-hitting safely from range — your Q passive stacks work on minions so you can farm without walking into hook range if you manage your positioning carefully.
  • After you hit 6, you can start looking for aggressive plays when Leona engages, but do not force fights into the Nautilus hook angle; instead, let Leona draw the hook and then commit with R.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not activate R reactively after Nautilus has already hooked you — by the time you are hooked and Hwei is following up, your R will not save you because the CC chain will interrupt your ability to use your upgraded E dash effectively.
  • Save R for proactive all-ins where Leona has already engaged and Nautilus's hook is on cooldown, not as a panic button when you are already caught.
