LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you have a meaningful level 2 spike — hitting level 2 first with Q+E gives you an immediate all-in threat that Rakan cannot match until his own level 2, and Kai'Sa has no defensive tool to bail him out.
- Post-6, Rakan's W+R combo outpaces your engage speed, so you transition to a reactive role: land Q to interrupt Rakan's W setup before he can dash to Kai'Sa for the R follow-up.
Synergy & Trading
- Your best pattern is to hold your Q until Rakan has committed his W, then hook him mid-animation or immediately after landing to deny the shield transfer and isolate him — Lucian then bursts the unshielded Rakan.
- Alternatively, hook Kai'Sa when she steps up to stack her passive, forcing Rakan to either burn W defensively or watch her die.
Wave Control/Roaming
- You should roam, but only after shoving the wave with Lucian and confirming Rakan has not already left lane — roaming into a Rakan who is already mid or jungle is a wasted trip.
- Optimal roam timing is post-first-back when you have Boots and can threaten a level 6 mid gank, or when Rakan has used his R in a failed engage and is on cooldown.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not throw your lantern reactively to save Lucian from a Rakan engage — this wastes your W passive soul collection and your box, leaving you with no peel or follow-up CC.
- Lucian's kit has an E to handle Rakan's W; your job is to create offensive pressure, not to be a purely reactive support.
