Who Wins
- Pre-6, Ezreal + Nautilus win most extended trades because Nautilus's level 2 all-in (Q hook into E root) is extremely threatening and Ezreal can follow up with consistent poke while you and Heimerdinger are still setting up turrets.
- Post-6, you gain significant teamfight advantage with your R providing engage/disengage, but Nautilus's R still threatens to cancel your R cast if he lands it first.
Synergy & Trading
- Your best pattern is to stay behind Heimerdinger's turrets and stack your passive by poking with Q, then use your E shield proactively when Nautilus attempts to hook — only commit to a full trade sequence (Q empowered + W slow + E) when Nautilus has already used his Q on cooldown.
Wave Control/Roaming
- You want to push the wave consistently with Heimerdinger to deny Ezreal his preferred poke range and force Nautilus to either engage under turret pressure or back off; a fast-pushing wave also reduces the window where Nautilus can hook you in open space.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your E reactively after Nautilus has already landed his hook — the shield will not save you from the full chain CC, and you will have wasted your only defensive tool; instead, pre-shield when Nautilus walks up aggressively before the hook lands.
