- Pre-6, you can contest the lane at level 2 with E+Q onto Jhin, but Nautilus's passive auto-attacks will chunk you heavily and your health bar does not display true HP, making it easy to misjudge trades.
- Post-6, you lose the 2v2 because Nautilus R displaces you before you can land R on a low-health target, and Jhin's R range exceeds your engage range.
Synergy & Trading
- Engage with E onto Jhin to interrupt his 4th shot, immediately Q to hook him in place, and let Smolder follow up — this is your only reliable kill pattern as Nautilus is too tanky to burst.
- Do not engage onto Nautilus directly, as his E auto-W passive stacks will shred your health bar faster than your grey health regenerates.
Wave Control/Roaming
- Yes, roam aggressively after pushing the wave, as Smolder can farm safely at range and your roam threat forces Nautilus to choose between following you or protecting Jhin.
- Optimal roam timing is after a successful level 3 poke trade that burns Nautilus's Q cooldown, giving you a 20-second window to reach mid before he can follow.
Mistakes to Avoid
