Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Varus has strong poke with Q and E slow but lacks the burst to punish you hard if you respect his range; at level 2 you can look for an aggressive E+Q engage if Milio hasn't yet stacked his W shield, but Milio's healing and shielding make extended trades unfavorable for you.
  • Post-6, your R+Q combo is a near-guaranteed kill setup on either target, and Milio's R can cleanse your chain but not your R knockup if you land it first.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best pattern is to absorb Varus poke with your passive shield stacks, then hard-engage with Q onto Varus to force Milio to burn his R or E defensively, letting Jhin follow up with W root and fourth-shot burst.
  • Never engage when Milio already has his E shield active on Varus, as the damage reduction combined with healing will let them win the trade.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You want to crash waves into the enemy tower to deny Varus safe farming range and force him to stand closer to you, reducing the effectiveness of his Q charge time.
  • Avoid slow-pushing for Nautilus since you have no wave clear and a large wave gives Varus a safe screen to poke from.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not blindly Q into Varus when he has E on himself or Milio has R available — Milio's R removes your chain and your entire engage is wasted with a long cooldown.
  • Patience is critical; wait for Milio's R to be on cooldown before committing to an all-in.
