Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win the support matchup against Thresh because your passive root on every auto-attack makes trading extremely punishing for him, and your Q is harder to dodge than his in a standard lane setup.
  • Post-6, you continue to win the all-in because your R into Caitlyn R is a two-person execution combo that Thresh's R box cannot match in raw kill pressure.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best pattern is to hook Aphelios when he steps up to CS, immediately auto-attack for the passive root, then let Caitlyn proc her headshot through the trap you pre-placed — this three-hit CC chain kills Aphelios before Thresh can react with a lantern.
  • Do not hook Thresh unless Aphelios is out of position, as Thresh has more tools to survive the chain than Aphelios does.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You should not roam early because your kill pressure in this lane is extremely high and leaving Caitlyn alone against Aphelios-Thresh removes your primary win condition.
  • Consider a post-6 roam only if the lane is already won with a significant gold lead and the wave is crashed, as your R has strong gank assist potential for mid.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not waste your Q on Thresh when he is clearly baiting it — he will dodge with his E or simply absorb it and punish your cooldown with an immediate hook back onto Caitlyn.
  • Save your Q for Aphelios who has no mobility and cannot escape the follow-up CC chain.
