Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you lose this lane.
  • Caitlyn's range advantage means she can poke you freely, Zilean's Q+W combo is a reliable two-bomb rotation you cannot dodge without Flash, and your Q bounce requires you to walk dangerously close to Caitlyn's trap range.
  • Post-6, you still lose the direct 2v2 because Zilean's R hard-counters your R — your primary win condition is negated, and Caitlyn's R gives her a reliable pick threat you cannot match.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best pattern is to use Nami's E-empowered autos to trade short and back off immediately, relying on Nami's W to sustain through Zilean's poke rather than committing to extended fights.
  • Look to proc your passive movement speed after Nami's E to reposition for a Q bounce onto Caitlyn from a minion, but only when Zilean has used both Q charges recently.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You need to play for a slow push or freeze to deny Caitlyn's ability to poke you under tower — pushing into her gives her free headshot setups and trap placement.
  • If you can freeze near your tower, Caitlyn loses her range advantage and must walk up into Nami's E range to CS, which is your best equalizer in this lane.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Never channel your R without Nami's E or W protecting you and Zilean's W on cooldown — Zilean can simply W your R away and you will have wasted your ultimate for nothing.
  • Avoid walking up to trade when Caitlyn has a headshot ready and Zilean has both Q charges available, as that combination will delete a significant portion of your health bar with no way to respond.
