Who Wins

Pre-6, Smolder+Pyke win the 2v2: Pyke's hook threat forces you to play far back, and Smolder's Q stacks safely while you struggle to engage without getting caught.
Post-6, the matchup becomes more even as your R gives you a repositioning tool, but Pyke's R executing low-health targets still punishes any overextension severely.

Your best trading pattern relies on Alistar engaging with W+Q to knock Smolder or Pyke airborne, then you immediately unload Q+E to burst during the CC window — your damage only matters when the enemy is locked down and cannot reposition.
Never trade without Alistar's combo initiating first, as your short range makes you extremely vulnerable to Pyke's hook if you step up alone.

Push the wave consistently to deny Smolder his Q stacking on minions, as Smolder's scaling is wave-dependent and starving him of stacks delays his power spikes significantly.
Avoid freezing near your tower because Pyke can hook you under tower and Alistar cannot always bail you out in time.

Never walk up to CS without tracking Pyke's Q cooldown — his hook range is long and a single hook into Smolder follow-up will delete you at low HP.
