Who Wins
- Pre-6, Smolder + Zyra win most extended trades due to Zyra's root, plant damage, and Smolder's stacking poke — you are outranged and lack reliable engage, so you lose 2v2s unless Shen lands a clean taunt.
- Post-6, your R gives you kill threat across the map but the lane 2v2 remains dangerous because Zyra R + Smolder R can burst you before your R matters locally.
Synergy & Trading
- Your best pattern is to let Shen initiate with his E taunt, then immediately switch to Minigun (Q) for sustained DPS during the taunt window — do not pre-commit to Fishbones because the taunt duration is too short to justify the slow attack speed.
- Follow up with your W slow to prevent their escape and extend the damage window.
Wave Control/Roaming
- Push the wave with Fishbones (Q) to deny Zyra plant setup under your minions and force her to use abilities on wave rather than on you — a slow-pushed wave also gives Shen better taunt angles in tight spaces.
- Avoid letting the wave freeze near their tower since Zyra plants in a frozen wave state are extremely punishing.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to CS without tracking Zyra's E root — it is the primary setup tool for all their kill attempts and if you eat it at close range, Smolder's Q stacks plus Zyra plants will chunk you severely.
- Respect the root cooldown and only trade aggressively in the window after it has been used.
