Who Wins
- Pre-6 you have a meaningful edge because your Q poke is long-range and your W double-cast stun punishes any Ekko who steps up without his passive shield active; post-6 the matchup becomes much harder since your R counters his burst once but he can simply wait out the revive timer and finish the kill, negating your ultimate's value.
How to Trade
- Your optimal trade pattern is to land Q on Ekko, immediately W it to detonate faster, then W yourself to slow him if he tries to chase — never stand still long enough for him to proc his passive shield and re-engage, because his E gap-close makes escaping a committed Ekko very difficult.
Wave Control
- You want to maintain a slow push or freeze near your tower to deny Ekko the safe space he needs to walk up for CS, since he is melee and heavily reliant on getting in range; using Q on the wave to push is risky because it gives him a shoved wave to roam with, which is where he thrives.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your R on Ekko preemptively as a deterrent — he will simply disengage with his E, wait for the buff to expire, and re-engage when you have no ultimate available, leaving you completely vulnerable to his full combo with no answer.
