LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you do not win a straight 1v1 against Ambessa — your Q poke and W slow can chip her down and punish bad dashes, but if she closes the gap and gets her full combo off, your damage and survivability cannot match hers in a sustained fight.
- Post-6, your R fundamentally changes the matchup by negating her kill threat on you or an ally, but you still cannot kill her in a straight fight — your win condition is attrition, not assassination.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to double-Q her from range, using W to slow her when she tries to dash in so she eats both bombs and the stun before she can reach you; if she does get on top of you, E yourself to reposition and disengage rather than trying to fight at melee range.
- Consistent poke over multiple waves will eventually force her into bad all-in attempts or back to base, which is where you accumulate your lead.
Wave Control
- You want to maintain a slow push or freeze near your tower to minimize her dive threat and keep her walking into your Q range rather than letting her crash waves and roam freely; Ambessa's roam pressure is significantly stronger than yours, so keeping her pinned in lane by threatening a frozen wave is more valuable than matching her push.
- Use your Q to poke during her last-hitting animations and avoid pushing the wave out unnecessarily, as a shoved wave gives her a free window to dive you or leave lane.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your R reactively on yourself the moment she dashes in — save it for when she has committed her full combo and your health is critically low, as using it too early wastes the cooldown and she can simply wait out the revive timer and finish you.
- Also avoid standing in predictable positions that let her dash onto you for free; always keep terrain or minion positioning in mind so she cannot gap-close without counterplay.
