Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Rumble wins most extended trades because his W gives him damage reduction and his Q applies consistent burn damage that outpaces your healing from Q; you can contest short trades at level 3 if you land your E slow and immediately Q, but Rumble's sustained pressure and overheat passive make him dangerous if he commits fully.
  • Post-6, you gain a meaningful power spike with R, but Rumble's R is a game-changing zoning tool that can prevent you from safely using your Maiden or force you off the wave entirely — you win extended isolated fights post-6 only if Rumble has already burned his R.

How to Trade

  • Your best pattern is to use E to slow Rumble, auto-attack to proc the slow, then Q for healing and damage, and immediately disengage before his W damage reduction and overheat proc can punish you; never let him walk into melee range freely because his Q at close range with overheat autos will chunk you faster than your sustain can recover.
  • Summon Ghouls with W before engaging so they add passive damage during the trade window without requiring you to stay in range.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave consistently using Q on minions to stack Ghouls and maintain wave pressure, because letting Rumble freely farm under tower removes your ability to threaten him and lets him scale into his R-dependent mid-game; a pushed wave also forces Rumble to use his abilities on minions, reducing his heat management efficiency and limiting his poke windows on you.
  • Avoid freezing — you lack the ranged tools to safely contest a freeze against Rumble's Q poke, and standing near a frozen wave means eating sustained burn damage.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not walk into Rumble's Q range without your E available, because he can freely poke you with his Q while you have no reliable way to close the gap or punish him without the slow; many Yorick players also make the mistake of using R offensively into Rumble's R, which zones the Maiden and wastes your biggest power spike — save your R for when Rumble has already committed his R elsewhere or is on cooldown.
