Who Wins
- You win levels 1-3 through superior range and Q poke damage, but must be careful at level 6 as Jax's R gives him significant dueling power if he lands E stun.
- Your early game advantage comes from being able to poke safely while Jax struggles to engage without taking free damage.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to poke with Q1-Q2 from range, then use Q3-W combo when Jax tries to engage, immediately following with E to safety before he can retaliate.
- Always save your E escape for after Jax uses his Q, as getting caught in his E stun range without escape leads to heavy damage.
Wave Control
- You want to maintain wave control in the center of the lane where you can poke freely while having E escape routes available.
- Push for early recalls when ahead to maintain item advantages, but avoid overextending without vision as Jax becomes very dangerous with jungle assistance.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never use E aggressively without tracking Jax's E cooldown, as getting caught in his stun during your E animation often results in death.
- Don't waste Q3 on minions when Jax is looking to engage, as you lose your primary disengage tool and become vulnerable to his Q-E combo.
