Who Wins
- You dominate levels 1-3 with mobility, passive shield, and ability to stick to Ryze in extended trades - use E dashes through minions to gap close and Q poke.
- Post-6 you maintain kill advantage as your R provides lethal combat ultimate while his R is macro/repositioning only - Q3 knock-up into R with ignite creates kill pressure he cannot answer.
How to Trade
- Look for E gap-closes through low HP ranged minions to reach Ryze, then Q-auto trade while your passive shield absorbs his retaliation - he'll often auto to remove shield first.
- When Ryze uses spells on wave, immediately engage with E-Q combo during his cooldowns - extended trades heavily favor you with sustained damage and shield refresh.
Wave Control
- Freeze wave near your tower to create long lane where you can run Ryze down with E dashes and deny him safe farming positions.
- Avoid hard pushing unless recalling - maintaining freeze pressure forces him to overextend for CS where you can all-in or setup ganks with Q3 knock-up.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never use Wind Wall preemptively - Ryze baits it with autos then follows with E-Q combo, so save it for his root (W) or critical E-Q burst when all-inning.
- Avoid fighting without nearby minions for E mobility - Ryze kites you in open spaces, and post-6 his lack of combat ult means you need minion waves to chase and secure kills.
