Scuttle Contest

At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you land your Q to reduce Kayn's armor and trade aggressively with E into W to disengage or bait his gap-close — Kayn has no reliable burst at level 3 and his Q damage requires stacking, so short trades heavily favor you.
At level 6, you win the 1v1 by using W to bait out Kayn's E through terrain, then re-engaging with E-Q-R combo; pre-transform Kayn and even early Rhaast are both beatable if you don't let him stack his Q passive freely in a prolonged fight.

Kayn most commonly starts Red Buff side and paths through his bot-side jungle (Red > Raptors > Wolves or Red > Krugs > Raptors), prioritizing early skirmishes near bot lane to collect form stacks from melee champions — he will look to gank bot or contest scuttle from the river entrance near his red buff side.
Expect him to avoid extended 1v1s early and instead seek 2v2 or gank opportunities to accelerate his transformation, especially if his bot lane has dive-friendly champions.

You can invade Kayn's red buff side at level 3 if you have vision confirming he started blue — his early clear is not fast enough to prevent you from stealing a camp and forcing a fight he is not yet strong enough to win.
The optimal window is roughly 3:15–3:30 near his red buff or krugs if he started blue side, as he will be low on HP and his Q stacks are not yet meaningful enough to threaten you in a short trade.

Do not let Kayn freely stack his Q passive by fighting him in long, drawn-out skirmishes — his damage scales dramatically once he has 4–5 stacks active, and many Wukong players underestimate how quickly he can turn a fight mid-combo.
Avoid using W purely as an escape tool without first committing your full combo, as telegraphing your W early gives Kayn time to reposition with his E and wait out your clone before re-engaging on you.
