Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Rengar by engaging before he can access a bush, as his empowered Q requires a leap from brush and your E knock-up disrupts his combo timing.
  • From level 6, your sure win condition is forcing a fight in an open area of the river or your own jungle where Rengar cannot use bushes to reset ferocity, then using your R to both deal damage and deny his ability to safely disengage.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Rengar will most likely start on the side of the map with the most bush access near his camps (typically Red Buff side top), look for an early level 2-3 invade or cheese on your buff, and prioritize getting to level 6 as fast as possible to unlock his assassination potential.
  • Expect him to hover near mid or top lane bushes for early gank setups rather than taking a standard full clear path.

Invade or Not

  • You should not proactively invade Rengar's jungle pre-level 6 unless you have vision of his location, as he can be hiding in a bush adjacent to any camp and an ambush empowered Q at low HP will heavily favor him.
  • If you do invade, do so at 3:30-4:00 with full HP after a clean clear, targeting his second buff with a ward placed first to confirm he is not nearby.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not underestimate Rengar's burst at level 6 when you are below 40% HP — your W passive revival requires you to survive the initial damage spike, but a fully stacked Rengar with empowered Q and E can delete you before the passive threshold triggers, so avoid soloing objectives without vision when low.
