Who Wins
- You lose early trades heavily due to Xerath's superior range and poke damage, but post-6 you gain significant kill pressure with R-E-Q combos if you can get in range.
- Your sustain from Q helps you survive the laning phase, but you cannot contest most trades pre-6.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use Q for sustain when possible and look for short E-Q trades when Xerath wastes abilities on minions.
- Post-6, you want to pool forward aggressively with W, then immediately R-E-Q for maximum burst damage.
Wave Control
- You should focus on freezing the wave near your tower to force Xerath to overextend for farm, making him vulnerable to ganks and all-ins.
- Avoid pushing early as Xerath can easily poke you under his tower and you have no escape tools pre-6.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't try to trade aggressively pre-6 as Xerath will win every extended trade with his range advantage and mana sustain.
- Avoid using W defensively too early in fights as it's your only gap closer and escape tool.
