Who Wins
- Pre-6 you lose trades due to Malzahar's superior range and Q-E poke that outranges your Q, but post-6 you can all-in him since your R-E-Q combo can kill him faster than his R-E-W can kill you.
- His passive shield blocks one ability but you have multiple damage sources to break through it.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use W pool to dodge his Q or avoid his voidlings, then immediately Q him as you emerge since he has no mobility to escape.
- Never try to trade when his passive is up - wait for minions or abilities to break it first, then engage with your combo.
Wave Control
- Push waves early with E to prevent him from free-farming and building his voidling army, but be careful not to overextend since you're vulnerable to ganks without W.
- After level 6, look for roam opportunities since you can't reliably kill him in lane due to his R and passive.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't use your W pool aggressively for trades early game since it costs health and leaves you vulnerable to ganks for 28 seconds.
- Never fight him when he has multiple voidlings up as they will chunk you significantly during extended trades.
