Who Wins
- Pre-6, Vayne wins most extended trades due to her passive movement speed, E knockback disrupting your W stacks, and the fact that your Q shield doesn't absorb enough to offset her sustained Silver Bolts damage — she can simply dodge your W by moving erratically and punish your immobility.
- Post-6, your R gives you zone control and forces Vayne to respect the storm's area, but she can still dodge in and out with her E and Q dash, meaning you don't cleanly win 1v1 unless you land W stun into full combo.
How to Trade
- Your best trade pattern is to place W preemptively in a chokepoint, force Vayne to either walk through it or reposition, then Q for the shield and Discharge empowered auto, followed by E laser — the goal is to chunk her before she stacks Silver Bolts three times on you, not to win a prolonged fight.
- Never commit to a trade without W stacks building, because without the stun threat she can freely kite you and proc Silver Bolts repeatedly while you deal minimal damage.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently to deny Vayne farm and force her to last-hit under tower, which limits her ability to all-in you freely in the open — your E wave clear is efficient and lets you maintain priority for roams or backing safely.
- Avoid letting the wave bounce back to your tower repeatedly, as Vayne is far more dangerous in a slow, extended skirmish near your own tower where she can use terrain to proc her E knockback into the wall.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to trade without W placed first — Vayne's E will knock you back mid-trade and reset your W stacks, leaving you with no stun and full Silver Bolts damage incoming.
- Also avoid using R purely as a damage tool in lane; its primary value here is zoning Vayne off the wave and creating space, not winning a straight 1v1 against a champion who can dash through it.
