Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Lux has longer range on her E and Q root, meaning she can poke and punish you before you can safely engage with your W or E.
  • You lose most extended trades early because she can root you, follow up with her passive auto, and disengage before your W stacks up — level 3 doesn't meaningfully shift this in your favor since she also gains her full kit at 3.

How to Trade

  • Post-6, you can contest the lane more seriously if you've augmented your E, as the aftershock adds significant burst that Lux cannot simply walk away from.
  • However, Lux's R has longer range and lower cooldown than yours, so she can still poke you down or finish you off from outside your engagement range — you need to be near-full health to all-in her.

Wave Control

  • Your best trading pattern is to bait her E or Q by walking forward, then immediately drop W behind her to cut off her retreat, fire your E through her, and use the Discharge from Q to add burst.
  • If she misses her root, that is your window — don't attempt trades when her Q is available because a successful root into passive auto into E combo will win her the short trade every time.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not neglect farming for Hex Fragments in this lane — Lux's poke will tempt you to play passively and miss CS, but falling behind on augments compounds your disadvantage significantly.
  • Prioritize getting your E augment as it is your most impactful tool against her, and avoid standing in predictable positions that let her land free E poke while you last-hit.
