Who Wins

  • You win most trades pre-6 with Q poke and can kite Ryze effectively, but post-6 becomes dangerous if he lands W root into R combo.
  • Your level 1-2 is strong with Q harass, and you maintain advantage until his R threat.

How to Trade

  • Poke with Q when he goes for CS, then auto-attack for W stacks if he tries to trade back with E-Q.
  • Keep maximum range and use your superior attack range to chip him down between Q cooldowns.

Wave Control

  • Maintain a slow push or freeze near your tower to deny his roam potential with R while keeping him in Q poke range.
  • Avoid hard shoving unless you have vision, as Ryze can easily clear waves and look for R flanks.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't waste Q on minions when Ryze has kill pressure, as you need it for self-peel against his W-R engage.
  • Avoid stepping too far forward without R available, as his flash-W-R combo can instantly delete you from surprising ranges.
