Scuttle Contest

At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Ambessa by using your W shield proactively before she can land her E dash, then cycling Q for damage and E for movement speed to prevent her from kiting you; Ambessa's burst pattern requires her to land E and stack Q procs, and your W shield absorbs a significant portion of that burst window, letting your sustained damage win the extended fight.
From level 6, you win 1v1 by forcing Ambessa to use her R early, then immediately activating W to absorb the follow-up burst, and cycling E for movement speed to stay on top of her and deny her the spacing she needs to safely proc her Q stacks.

Ambessa will most likely start her stronger buff (Red or Blue depending on her team's leash), then path through her jungle clearing toward the river scuttle at approximately 3:15–3:30; she will look for early skirmishes and may attempt to invade your second or third camp if she senses a favorable angle, so track her entry point carefully.

You should not blindly invade Ambessa early because her E dash gives her strong reactive mobility that can turn your invade into a losing fight if she has camp terrain to work with; however, if you identify she is on the opposite side of the map at 3:30+, you can counter-jungle her cleared camps safely and deny her reset economy without direct confrontation.

Do not let Ambessa dictate the trade distance by dashing in and out repeatedly without committing your E movement speed to chase her down, because if you cycle W shield on cooldown without pressure she will simply poke your shield down with Q procs and disengage before your sustained damage can punish her.
