Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win every trade at all levels — your Q heals you, your W slows his attack speed and movement to prevent kiting, and your E immediately strips his armor, making your auto-attacks and Q hit harder in the same trade window.
  • Post-6, you must use your R immediately when he activates his R, because his R grants him a large health shield and resistances that your R directly counters by stealing those stats — delaying your R means he gets full value from his bulk while you do not.

How to Trade

  • Your optimal trading pattern is to E first to steal his armor, then W to cut off his escape and reduce his attack speed, then weave Q autos to heal back any damage he deals — this three-ability rotation is your core all-in and should be executed whenever he walks up to Q a minion.
  • If he uses W to slow you, respect the slow briefly but re-engage once it expires, as your sustained damage and healing will outlast his W cooldown in a prolonged fight.

Wave Control

  • Deny him wave access by freezing the wave near your side of the lane, forcing him to overextend for Q stacks and making him vulnerable to your all-in or jungle ganks.
  • If he tries to shove the wave to farm safely under tower, match his shove and look to dive him with your jungler once you hit level 6, as your R combined with tower aggro is manageable given your healing.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let him stack Q freely by ignoring him — every 10–15 stacks he accumulates compounds into a late-game problem where his Q one-shots minions and eventually threatens you in side lanes.
  • Avoid using your R as an opener in skirmishes where he has not yet activated his R, because you want to react to his R to maximize the stat drain rather than waste it on a champion who has not yet buffed himself.
