Who Wins
- Pre-6 you win this lane clearly — your Q hook at level 2 is a kill threat, your E passive permanently shreds Malphite's armor which is his primary defensive stat, and your W lantern gives you disengage if he tries to all-in; post-6 you lose the 1v1 because his R is an instant, undodgeable knockup that sets up a full combo you cannot survive or escape.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to land Q to hook Malphite in, immediately auto to proc E passive armor shred, then chain autos and W slow to extend the trade — the longer the fight goes pre-6, the more his armor becomes irrelevant due to your E stacking, so never settle for short trades.
Wave Control
- Deny Malphite CS by using your Q threat to zone him off the wave, and consider freezing the wave near your side to force him to overextend for farm — Malphite has no mobility to escape a freeze situation and your hook range punishes any step forward he takes.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not let the game go to a point where Malphite has enough armor and AP to one-shot you with R — if he reaches 6 with full health and you cannot burst him first, respect the all-in threat and play for poke rather than committing to a full trade you will lose.
