Who Wins
- Pre-6, Thresh wins most extended trades due to his E passive stacking armor shred, his W slow enabling follow-up autos, and his Q hook setting up free damage — your Q poke is your only real tool but Thresh's range and kit make trading back extremely punishing; post-6, you win decisively because your R is a guaranteed engage that Thresh cannot dodge or interrupt, and your armor scaling makes you nearly unkillable in a short burst window.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use Q to poke from max range and immediately walk back, never committing to extended trades pre-6 since Thresh's E shred and auto-attack chains will outdamage you; once you hit 6, all-in immediately with R into W into Q for maximum burst before Thresh can reposition.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently with your passive armor stacking to sustain through Thresh's poke, and try to crash waves before roaming or taking extended fights — a frozen wave against you is dangerous because Thresh can hook you under tower and you have limited escape tools pre-6.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to CS without tracking Thresh's Q cooldown — getting hooked even once pre-6 can result in a kill or a forced back, and repeatedly eating E passive stacks will drain your health faster than your Q sustain can compensate for.
