Who Wins
- Pre-6, your hook is the primary win condition and landing it at level 2 onto Kog'Maw before Lulu has W ready is your strongest spike — if you hit a hook at level 2 and Tristana follows with E, you can kill Kog'Maw outright.
- Post-6, Lulu's R makes your all-ins much harder to convert, so you need to bait out her R with a fake engage before committing to the real kill attempt.
Synergy & Trading
- Your best pattern is to hook Kog'Maw from an angle where Lulu cannot body-block it, then immediately flay to prevent Lulu from walking between you and Kog'Maw — this forces Lulu to use W reactively on you rather than offensively, giving Tristana a free window to E in and burst.
- If Lulu uses W on you, Tristana should jump immediately before the polymorph expires.
Wave Control/Roaming
- You should roam when the wave is shoved into the enemy tower and Kog'Maw is forced to farm under it — Lulu will not leave Kog'Maw alone, so a roam mid at level 6 with your R lantern setup is high value and creates a numbers advantage.
- Do not roam pre-6 because Lulu can sustain Kog'Maw through poke and your hook is too important to the lane's kill pressure.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not throw hooks recklessly into Lulu's body because she will intentionally body-block them and you waste your primary engage tool — Thresh without a hook available is a passive support with a flay, which is not enough to threaten this lane.
- Patience on your Q and finding clean angles around Lulu's positioning is the core skill expression in this matchup.
