Who Wins
- Pre-6, this lane is roughly even with a slight edge to you at level 3 when your full combo (E-W-Q) deals significant burst, but Zed's W-Q poke at range keeps you from freely engaging; post-6, Zed's R gives him a safer all-in with a built-in escape, making him the stronger duelist unless you can land your R reset combo before he exits his R.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use E to close the gap and proc your passive bleed, immediately follow with W and Q for maximum burst, then disengage before Zed can retaliate with his shadow; extended fights favor Zed because his W lets him reposition and poke safely, so your trades must be short and decisive.
Wave Control
- You want to shove the wave quickly with W to deny Zed free poke under tower, then roam with your R since your roaming pressure is one of your strongest advantages over Zed; do not sit in a stalled mid lane where Zed can freely harass you with long-range Q pokes.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to trade when Zed's W shadow is already placed behind you or to your side, as he can instantly reposition to dodge your E and punish you; overcommitting to a trade without your E available leaves you with no gap-close and no escape, which Zed will exploit to kill you.
