- Pre-6, you win this matchup clearly due to your range advantage and Malphite's lack of reliable engage or damage at distance; post-6, Malphite's R fundamentally changes the dynamic because a single misstep lets him one-shot combo you with his jungler, so the 1v1 advantage shifts to conditional — you win if you respect his R range, you lose if you don't.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use Q to poke from max range, then E a sphere into him to slow and follow with another Q; never walk up to auto-attack him because his passive armor scaling and W make short trades heavily favor him, so keep all damage at range and disengage immediately after each rotation.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently with Q to maintain priority, which denies Malphite the ability to roam freely and forces him to farm under tower where his waveclear is poor; a shoved wave also keeps you safe from his R engage because he cannot walk up to cast it without being seen.
