Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Ornn wins most extended trades due to his passive shield absorbing burst, W making him Unstoppable through your CC, and E knockup punishing you hard if you're near terrain or his Q pillar — you can win short trades at level 1-2 by poking with Q and disengaging before he stacks Brittle, but you cannot out-sustain or out-trade him in extended exchanges.
  • Post-6, you gain significant power by stealing his R, which gives you a long-range knockup tool he cannot match in a 1v1 setting, but his tankiness and Brittle passive still make him dangerous if you fight without your stolen R available.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to poke with Q from range to chip his health, then engage with E to close distance and burst with W and auto-attacks, aiming to end the trade before he can complete his W-into-E Brittle proc sequence — if he activates W, disengage immediately rather than eating the Brittle knockup combo.
  • After level 6, lead with stolen R to knock him up, then chain your E and W during the CC window to maximize damage before his passive shield regenerates.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave early to deny Ornn his passive benefit of shopping remotely — if he's forced to recall, he loses gold efficiency, and if he stays, he falls behind in items.
  • However, avoid overextending into his jungle without vision, as his R has long range and can set up ganks; maintain a slight freeze near your tower when ahead to force him into dangerous positions.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Never fight Ornn near his Q pillar or terrain when his E is available, as the knockup will extend his trade window and allow his Brittle passive to deal massive bonus damage — this single mistake turns a winnable skirmish into a losing one.
  • Do not attempt to all-in him when his passive shield is active, as it absorbs a meaningful chunk of your burst and can cause your combo to fall short of kill threshold.
