Scuttle Contest
- At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Master Yi by using E to interrupt or reposition away from his Q, then sustaining through his DPS with W while your passive empowered autos deal consistent damage.
- From level 6, your 1v1 win condition is to steal his R with your own R, then use the enhanced auto-attack reset and movement speed against him, as fighting a Master Yi with his own R active while also having your own kit is a decisive power spike.
Predicted Jungle Path
- Master Yi typically runs a standard full clear starting at either Red or Blue depending on side, and will look to power farm through his first two clears before contesting scuttle at level 3.
- He will avoid early fights if behind and instead look to scale into mid-game with Kraken Slayer or Guinsoo's Rageblade, so expect him to be farming-focused rather than aggressive early.
Invade or Not
- You can invade Master Yi at his second buff around 3:15-3:30 if you know his starting side, as he has no reliable escape and your E provides both engage and disengage.
- The optimal location is his buff opposite to his start, catching him with low HP after his first clear; however, avoid invading if he started the same side as you and is at full HP, as a healthy Yi with Q available can still trade favorably at early levels.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not waste your E aggressively as a pure engage tool and then have nothing to escape with if his jungler or a laner collapses; your E is your primary peel and repositioning tool against Yi's Q, and burning it offensively leaves you vulnerable to being locked down and killed by his sustained DPS.
