Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose the short poke war because Teemo outranges your W and E significantly, and his Q blind makes your auto-attack trades unreliable — however, if you land W root at level 2 or 3, you can force a full combo that chunks him heavily since he has no escape.
- Post-6, your R fundamentally changes the matchup: you become nearly unkillable in sustained fights, and if you can force an extended trade with R active, Teemo's damage output cannot match your healing, making you the clear winner in any prolonged engagement.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to bait Teemo into using Q by walking up as if to trade, then immediately sidestepping and landing W to root him, followed by E and Q for maximum burst — the key is that W root removes his ability to disengage, which is the only thing that makes his poke pattern safe.
- Once R is available, look to all-in him when he's at 60-70% HP, as R sustain combined with your full combo will outdamage his burst before he can kite away.
Wave Control
- Let Teemo push the wave into you early and farm safely under tower, as fighting for wave priority in the open exposes you to his poke without a reliable way to engage — use the tower's protection to reduce his ability to freely auto-attack you.
- Once you hit level 6, look to slow-push a large wave and either all-in him or roam, as your R makes you a much stronger skirmisher than he is in mid-game fights.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up in a straight line to try to land W — Teemo will simply Q you and disengage, leaving you with a missed root, a blind debuff, and no trade won.
- Avoid using R defensively when you're already low and out of position; save it for proactive all-ins where you can actually sustain through his damage and force him to burn flash or die.
