Who Wins
- Pre-6, this lane is roughly even with a slight Gragas advantage: his W gives him sustain that offsets your Q healing, and his E-auto-Q combo deals more burst than your Q poke at most levels; post-6, you do not win the 1v1 either — Gragas can R you away to cancel your R teleport setup and his damage output exceeds what you can sustain through without your R available.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to bait his E cooldown first, then immediately step in with your E taunt to force a full trade where your W shield absorbs part of his Q damage and your Q empowered auto sustains you back; never engage when his E is up because he will body-slam through your taunt animation and combo you before you can disengage.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently with Q to deny him free W sustain under tower, because Gragas heals most efficiently when he can stand still and stack W in a slow wave; a fast-pushing wave also lets you roam with your R more freely, which is your primary source of game impact in this matchup.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not waste your E taunt on a Gragas who has his E ready — he will simply dash through it, negate the taunt, and punish you during your cooldown window; your E is your only hard engage tool and throwing it into his E makes you a free kill.
