- Pre-6 you have a meaningful advantage: your E-auto-Q all-in deals more damage than Shen can sustain through, and your W sustain lets you recover from his Q poke faster than he recovers from your trades; post-6 the matchup stays in your favor because your R can physically displace him away from you or into your team, and you can also interrupt his R channel by body-slamming him mid-cast.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to throw Q to poke and force his W shield, wait for it to expire, then E in for an auto-Q burst combo and immediately W to sustain the return damage; this cycling of his defensive cooldowns before committing to a full trade is how you consistently win extended fights.
Wave Control
- Let the wave slow-push toward you early so you can W under tower safely and sustain through his Q harassment without taking tower damage; once you have a health and cooldown advantage, shove the wave quickly and look to dive or roam, because Shen's global R means a slow, passive lane rewards him more than it rewards you.
Mistakes to Avoid
