Who Wins
- Pre-6, you win short trades at level 1-2 if you land your Q stun and W immediately, but Zed's level 3 W-Q-E poke pattern gives him enough burst and range to punish you if you overextend without your E shield up; post-6, Zed's R makes the 1v1 heavily favor him because his damage output with R-W-Q-E exceeds what you can shield and heal through, and your R does not provide enough sustain to survive his full combo without a significant gold lead.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to bait out his W shadow first by walking aggressively toward him, then E in when his W is on cooldown, immediately W-Q-Q to stun and burst, and disengage before his shadow repositions; never engage when his W is available because he can instantly create distance and poke you safely from range.
Wave Control
- You want to shove the wave quickly and look for short all-ins under his tower or roam, because sitting in a long poke war in a static wave heavily favors Zed's range and energy-efficient harass; use your wave clear to deny him free poke by keeping minions between you and him.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your E offensively to gap-close unless his W is on cooldown — burning E to engage leaves you with no escape tool, and Zed will immediately W away and punish you with a full combo while your shield is gone.
