Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win most exchanges at levels 2 and 3 by combining E-W-Q-E to burst Trundle before his W can meaningfully sustain back the damage; Trundle has no reliable way to punish your dash windows early and his Q attack speed buff does not translate into kill pressure fast enough to match your burst.
  • Post-6, the matchup shifts significantly against you because Trundle's R drains your armor and AD, effectively turning your own stats into a liability, and his W pillar can cancel your E escape, making extended fights increasingly dangerous.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to engage with E, immediately proc W stun, then Q for the heal, and disengage with your second E before Trundle can activate W or land multiple empowered Q autos; you want short, decisive burst windows, not prolonged fights where his passive healing and stat drain accumulate.
  • Never trade without Fury stacked to at least 50 so your W stun is available, as trading without the empowered W dramatically reduces your damage output and leaves you vulnerable to his sustained auto-attack pattern.

Wave Control

  • You want to shove the wave consistently to deny Trundle the ability to freely walk up and auto you under pressure, then reset to base for items before he can establish a slow-push setup that forces you into unfavorable extended fights.
  • Avoid freezing the wave deep in your side of the lane because Trundle excels at slow-pushing and forcing you to fight near your tower where his W pillar can trap you against the structure.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Trundle R you and then attempt to fight back thinking your burst will still be enough — his R removes a percentage of your armor and AD, which directly reduces the damage of your own abilities and makes his tankiness feel exponentially higher than it actually is.
  • Staying in the fight after being R'd is one of the most common mistakes Renekton players make in this matchup, and it almost always results in a death that felt avoidable.
