Scuttle Contest

At level 3, you do not reliably win a straight 1v1 against Briar at scuttle because her W sustain will outheal your burst if the fight extends beyond your initial combo, and she has no mana to run out of; you should contest scuttle only if you have a significant HP advantage from a cleaner clear.
From level 6, you can win a 1v1 if you use your E knockup to interrupt her W mid-channel or force her to recast it at low fury, then tunnel away to reset the engagement and re-engage when she has burned her fury stacks.

Briar will typically start red buff and path toward the nearest scuttle, looking for an early level 3 fight or invade because her kit rewards aggressive early trading; she has very high clear speed and will often be at scuttle before you if she starts on the same side.
Expect her to invade your jungle if she gets scuttle first, particularly targeting your red buff or raptors where she can trap you in a narrow corridor.

You should not invade Briar directly in the early game unless she is significantly low HP, because her W sustain makes 1v1 trades in her jungle extremely favorable for her and your escape tools require pre-placed tunnels.
Instead, focus on placing tunnels near her jungle entrances around 4:00–5:00 to enable reactive counter-ganks or to escape if she tries to invade you, and look to invade only after a successful gank where she is forced to recall.

Do not attempt to fight Briar in a long open-area brawl at any stage of the game, because her W healing scales with the fight duration and she will simply outlast your damage output without a way to disengage.
Avoid using your E knockup aggressively as an engage tool — save it specifically to interrupt her W or to create distance, because burning it offensively leaves you with no escape mechanism when she turns on you.
