At level 3, you lose the straight 1v1 against Ambessa if she closes the gap with her E, because her passive shield and sustained melee damage outpace your burst in a prolonged fight; you must use your Q slow (river element) to kite and your E to disengage rather than trading evenly.
From level 6, you can win the 1v1 only if you burst her down before her passive generates multiple shield stacks, meaning you need a full combo (W into empowered Q, E, auto-weave) executed quickly, as a drawn-out fight heavily favors her.

Ambessa typically runs a full clear prioritizing the side of the map with the first scuttle spawn, starting with her stronger buff and using her Q dashes to efficiently clear camps; she hits level 3 fast and looks to contest scuttle aggressively around 3:15.
Expect her to look for early skirmishes and invades because her kit is designed for close-range dominance, so she will often skip camps to find a fight if she senses you are vulnerable.

You should generally avoid direct invades against Ambessa pre-level 6 unless you catch her between camps with low HP, as her E-Q gap close punishes you severely if she reaches melee range; instead, use your superior map mobility to counterjungle her opposite side while she is committed to a fight or gank.
If you do invade, do so at her second buff around 2:45 with the terrain element active on your Q to maximize your burst window before she can stack her passive.

Do not fight Ambessa in open terrain without a wall or river nearby, as your damage output is dramatically reduced without an empowered Q element and she will simply outlast you with her passive shields; always ensure you have a terrain feature within range before committing to a fight.
