Who Wins
- You win most early trades through superior base stats and W's damage reduction, but Irelia can start pressuring you around level 3-4 when she has multiple abilities to stack passive.
- Post-6, you generally win extended trades if you land W-E combo, but Irelia's R gives her strong all-in potential if she catches you without abilities.
How to Trade
- Look to W when Irelia goes for minion Qs to stack passive, then immediately E into her for the Brittle proc knockup - this forces her to disengage or take heavy damage.
- If she commits after your combo, your passive shield and W damage reduction usually let you win the extended trade.
Wave Control
- Push early levels to establish priority since Irelia struggles to match your waveclear without stacked passive, then look to freeze near your tower once she gets combat stats.
- This forces her to overextend for CS while keeping you safe from ganks and giving you opportunities to land W-E combos.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't use W carelessly for waveclear when Irelia has abilities up, as you become extremely vulnerable without your damage reduction and Brittle setup.
- Missing your E after landing W Brittle is particularly punishing since it wastes your main trading window and leaves you exposed to her full combo.
