LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you win most extended poke trades due to your superior range and Ball repositioning — Locke needs to stack Q marks and close distance to deal meaningful damage, which your Ball placement actively denies.
- Post-6, the matchup becomes significantly more dangerous because R's execution threshold combined with E-W all-in can kill you through your shield if you're even slightly low on health.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to keep the Ball on yourself or slightly forward to threaten E shield while poking with Q, then immediately reposition the Ball away from yourself after trading to deny Locke a clean E-W follow-up.
- Never let Locke stack three Q marks on you without responding — the bonus damage from E and basic attacks consuming those stacks is what enables the kill combo, so force him to reset stacks by staying mobile.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently with Ball-on-wave Q pokes to maintain priority, which forces Locke to farm under tower and reduces his ability to roam and collect R souls that permanently increase his execution threshold.
- Shoving also limits his W all-in windows since he needs lane space to safely activate W's true damage trade and then recast to heal — denying him that space is free value.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not stand still at medium health thinking your shield is enough protection — Locke's passive bonus magic damage scales off your missing health, meaning the lower you are, the harder each auto hits, and R's execution mark will finish you before your shield resolves.
- Avoid grouping tightly in teamfights when Locke has R available, as the 99% slow on chained nails will lock your entire team in place for follow-up.
