Scuttle Contest
- At level 3, you can contest scuttle against Briar by using your W to burst her down before her passive healing can sustain through your damage, but this only works if you land the full W channel; if she E's onto you mid-channel and disrupts your positioning, she will out-sustain and out-damage you in a prolonged trade.
- From level 6, you win 1v1 only if you initiate with W at max range before she can close the gap with E, as once she is on top of you she will heal through your damage and her passive makes her nearly impossible to kill in a sustained fight.
Predicted Jungle Path
- Briar typically starts on the buff opposite to the enemy's leash side and looks for an aggressive level 3 scuttle fight, often taking a 3-camp clear into immediate river pressure; she will look to invade or contest scuttle early because her level 3 power spike is significant.
- She will frequently dive your backline in teamfights and look for extended 1v1 duels in the jungle where her passive sustain is hardest to punish, so expect her to track your position and look for fights rather than passive farming.
Invade or Not
- You should generally avoid invading Briar at any point in the early game because her passive sustain and damage output in a 1v1 jungle fight heavily favor her; she is designed to win isolated duels and your W can be interrupted by her E engage.
- If you must contest her, do so at scuttle with your laner present or when you have vision confirming her W and E are on cooldown, but a direct solo invade is high-risk and rarely worth the reward given her self-healing.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not attempt to fight Briar in an extended trade without your W available — without that burst damage you have no way to chunk her health fast enough before her passive heals her back up, making prolonged fights almost unwinnable for you.
- Avoid using your W to start a fight when she has E available, as she will E onto you mid-channel and negate a significant portion of your damage while immediately getting into melee range where she thrives.
