At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you land your Q fear line before Ambessa closes the gap with her E, as the fear duration gives you free autos and denies her ability to chain her empowered Q combo; if she dashes onto you before you land Q, she will likely win the trade due to her higher burst damage.
From level 6, you win the 1v1 by activating your W immediately when she initiates with E to absorb her first ability, then using your Q to fear her mid-combo and letting your passive lifesteal sustain you through her burst window.

Ambessa in the jungle typically runs a three-camp clear starting at her stronger buff, looking to hit level 3 quickly and contest scuttle aggressively around 3:15; she will often skip camps to reach scuttle early if she senses a fight opportunity.
Expect her to invade your jungle frequently, especially after she hits level 6, as her R gives her extreme repositioning that makes her very dangerous in tight jungle corridors.

You should not proactively invade Ambessa early, as her E dash and empowered Q burst will outdamage you in a short trade before your W shield can absorb enough damage; instead, counter-jungle her after a successful gank when she is away from her jungle.
If you do invade, do it at level 3 by approaching from an angle where you can land your Q fear line before she can react with E, as the fear is your primary tool to prevent her from executing her full combo.

Do not activate your W reactively after she has already landed her first empowered Q hit, because the shield only blocks one ability and if you waste it on a non-critical hit you will have no defense against her follow-up burst; you must pre-activate W the moment you see her E animation.
Additionally, do not chase Ambessa through open areas after she uses R to reposition, as she will use the repositioned angle to re-engage on her own terms with full combo available while you are out of position.
