Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you land your E dash to close the gap and chain your Q empowered strikes, as your burst combo outdamages Nocturne's sustained damage at this stage; however, if Nocturne has his W shield up absorbing your first ability, the fight becomes much closer and you risk losing if you burn your E early.
  • From level 6 onward, you win the 1v1 by using your R to reposition aggressively mid-fight, then immediately chaining E into empowered Q autos to burst him down before he can sustain through your damage with his passive lifesteal.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Nocturne most commonly runs a full clear starting at either Red or Blue depending on side, then pathing through his three camps before contesting scuttle around 3:15–3:30; he prioritizes early full clears to hit level 3 with good health rather than early invades.
  • Expect him to look for a gank on a pushed lane immediately after scuttle, as his Q fear setup and E slow make him a strong early ganker who snowballs through assists rather than solo kills.

Invade or Not

  • You should invade Nocturne at his second buff around 2:30–2:45 if you started opposite side, as he will be lower health after his first clear and your burst at level 2–3 can force a flash or secure a kill; target his blue side if he started red, or his red side if he started blue, and use your E to dodge his Q fear line.
  • Avoid invading at level 1 or after he has completed his full clear with healthy HP, as his W shield will negate your first ability and his sustained damage will outlast you in a prolonged fight.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not waste your E defensively to escape his Q fear, because burning your only gap-closer means you have no way to re-engage or chase him down after the fear expires; this is the single biggest mechanical mistake in this matchup.
  • Additionally, do not fight him in his jungle when he has vision of you approaching, as he will pre-activate his W to block your first ability and completely flip the trade in his favor.
