Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win short trades if you land your Q hook because Yunara is immobile and your E slow plus passive root gives your Hwei free damage; however, Karma's shields and R-empowered Q poke make extended trades risky early, so you need to hook first or the trade flips.
  • Post-6, you have a strong all-in window since Yunara has no escape without her R active, but if she has R up the fight becomes much harder as she gains a dash and sustained DPS that outpaces your burst window.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your job is to hook Yunara specifically, not Karma, because Yunara without R is immobile and dies to a full Hwei combo after your chain CC; land Q, immediately E to close gap, auto to proc passive root, and let Hwei unload his full rotation before Karma can shield.
  • Avoid hooking Karma into your team since she is the less threatening target and you waste your cooldown.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You should not hard shove the wave because Yunara with Q active has strong on-hit wave clear and you want to maintain a slow push or freeze near your tower to force Yunara to overextend for CS, creating hook angles.
  • Letting the wave bounce back toward you denies Yunara safe farm and gives you repeated hook opportunities without diving into Karma's poke range.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use your Q on Karma when Yunara is the kill target — Karma is tankier in short windows due to shields and your hook cooldown is long enough that missing or wasting it on the wrong target gives Yunara a free window to stack Q and trade back safely with Karma's empowerment.
